He loves to splash in creeks and has a lot of experience ascending or descending steep trails, rides well in the woods or on the road with no fear of traffic. He rides well with a saddle or bareback, by himself or with other horses. He puts his head down to accept head gear, lies and sits down, and opens his mouth for the bit. Copper has a soft mouth and collects nicely. He responds to leg pressure very well. Copper gets pent-up energy when kept inside too long with very little exercise, but he will calm down under a nice warm-up. He is originally a gaited horse, but since we only ride him at a walk, trot, or canter, he doesn’t gait, but with some training and practice he could gait very well!
